8,400 ft² custom single family residence. The structure is steel post and beam with wood infill framing that is supported on a concrete foundation with spread footings. The project features exposed exterior structural steel and a custom cantilevered steel stair with glass guardrails. There is also a walkout basement to a structured concrete patio with a custom spa and fire place.
This project was a remodel to an existing 5,745 ft² single family residence. The design for this project had the added challenge of keeping the shell of the building intact during construction. It involved changing the existing hip and gable roof into a continuous gable form and maintaining vaulted ceilings below while only removing the hip portions of the roof. Structural steel including steel bents was used in order to achieve the architectural vision of this space. A new cantilevered steel stair with a glass guardrail is another feature of this project.
Multiple underground levels, a masters wing, and nothing but glass. This residence represents the standard in aspen luxury. At nearly 9000 ft² with views capturing most of the Aspen valley, who wouldn't want to live here.
